UK October gas consumption at 12-year low
UK October gas consumption fell to its lowest for the month since at least 2010, with industrial demand sinking to a 12-year monthly low, as high gas prices and mild weather reduced consumption.
Europe was investigating leaks in two Russian gas pipelines that churned up the Baltic Sea with bubbles on Tuesday and raised concerns from Copenhagen to Moscow about sabotage on infrastructure at the heart of a European energy standoff.
The German government last week said it was looking at decoupling gas and electricity markets as a way to curb rising power prices in Europe, a call later joined on Sunday by Brussels and Vienna.
