GLEG UK Energy Market Update…
April 14, 2025According to new data from the European Commission, EU nations are set to install a record 89GW of renewable energy capacity in 2025 – that’s 70GW of solar and 19GW of wind. If achieved, it would mark the highest ever annual installations for both technologies.
But while this signals massive progress towards Europe’s climate goals, industry leaders are sounding the alarm: policy pullbacks and bureaucratic bottlenecks could slow the pace.
SolarPower Europe has already flagged potential revisions to their forecast after France announced cuts to rooftop solar incentives earlier this year. Meanwhile, Orsted and WindEurope warn that rising costs and supply chain issues are squeezing wind power development.
It’s a reminder that while ambition is high, continued government support and streamlined permitting are critical to delivering the EU’s green transition.
At GLEG, we’re helping businesses across the UK stay ahead of the curve – with smart, sustainable energy solutions that align with both national goals and global momentum.
