Energy Markets on Edge: Efficiency Meets Fragility
March 25, 2026In 2025, renewable energy accounted for 47.3% of electricity generation across the EU, a clear signal that the transition to clean energy is accelerating.
Wind led the way, contributing 37.5% of renewable electricity, followed by solar (27.5%) and hydropower (25.9%). Notably, solar saw the fastest growth, increasing by 24.6% year-on-year, highlighting its growing role in the energy mix.
While countries like Denmark (92.4%), Austria (83.1%), and Portugal (82.9%) are leading the charge, there is still significant variation across Europe — and even greater opportunity for businesses to take control of their own energy future!
For UK businesses, the message is clear: on-site renewable generation is no longer a “nice to have” — it’s becoming a competitive advantage.
At GLEG, we help businesses reduce energy costs, improve resilience, and move towards net zero with on-site renewable solutions.
