June 22, 2026The UK has launched a new Offshore Wind Innovation Hub aimed at accelerating innovation, strengthening domestic manufacturing and supporting the future growth of the offshore wind sector.
Backed by Innovate UK, the initiative brings together ORE Catapult, the National Composites Centre (NCC) and the National Manufacturing Institute Scotland (NMIS) to help turn emerging technologies into commercial solutions more quickly.
Driving Innovation Across the Sector
The Hub will focus on five key areas identified within the UK’s Offshore Wind Industrial Growth Plan:
- Advanced turbine technologies
- Foundations and substructures
- Electrical systems and cables
- Environmental services
- Installation, operations and maintenance technologies
Its goal is to improve collaboration between industry, government and academia while helping UK businesses play a greater role in the offshore wind supply chain.
£2 Million of Support for UK Businesses
The first programme will provide £2 million of funding and support to businesses developing technologies aligned with these priority areas.
Organisations will gain access to technical expertise, testing facilities, manufacturing support and commercial guidance to help bring innovations to market faster.
